Over the past year or so the Public Works Department of Corinna has expanded and improved the parking lot behind the Stewart Library Building. As they were able to get to it, their work developed the area into a parking lot that can accommodate up to 60 or more cars. This improves the usability of the facility and the parking convenience for people attending events at the building. Not long after the area was opened up the lot accommodated 70 cars for a play production by the Levi Stewart Community Theater.
The progress in preservation and upgrades of the Stewart Library Building has in part been possible because the Stewart Library Building Preservation Group and the Select Board of Corinna have worked together as projects unfolded and upgrades were made. The citizens of Corinna value the Board’s commitment to the work. The parking lot is an example of this progress.
Using funds from private donations and with the approval of the Select Board, the Stewart Library Building Preservation Group is paying for the installation of two poles, one on each side of the lot, for mounting lights in the parking area. It is a large area. Additional lighting beyond what we have now is needed. In this picture taken on 10/29/20 you can see the workers setting the poles. The lights will be up soon.
