Among other development this past week at the Stewart Library Building, these three stand out.
The foundation for the new addition on the St. Albans Road side (north side) of the building has been constructed. The forms came off the concrete a few days ago. This is the base for the addition that will house the new entrance and stairway.
A new water line was installed from the municipal water system on the south side, the Nokomis Road. A larger connection is needed to provide water for the new sprinkler system.
And, very important to those who spend time in the building, the new heating system is installed and the workers from A. E. Robinson are connecting the new radiators. The Town received an anonymous donation of $100,000 from a component fund at the Maine Community Foundation and a grant of $20,000 from Skowhegan Savings to fund the replacement. The new boilers and hot water based system will be more efficient than the old steam heating plant.
