Veteran’s Day

memorialToday we remember those who have served our country, now and in the past. We honor their bravery and sacrifice.

Six veterans from Corinna who gave their lives have been remembered with bronze plaques at the base of apple trees on the grounds of the Stewart Library Building. Unfortunately, over the years, those trees deteriorated and, while beautiful for a couple of weeks as they flowered in the Spring, they were no longer suitable memorials. The trees have been removed. The plaques have been saved. They will be rededicated at a more honorable memorial in the near future.

In the meantime, here are the names of those six men. We honor them and all their brothers and sisters who serve.

Sergeant Thomas J. Currier, World War II

Private First Class Lawrence Curtis, World War II

Sergeant Bert Doherty, Jr., World War II

Private Percy E. Fernald, World War II

First Lieutenant Percy W. Swan, World War II

Private First Class Paul E. Sudsbury, Vietnam
