The glass for the curtain walls on the new addition to the Stewart Library Building arrived on site today. Workers have already put some of the smaller panels into the framing. If the weather doesn’t slow progress the glass installation should be complete by the end of this week.
The open areas with black rectangles are the framing for the glass panels, waiting for the glass to go up. The blue areas on the corners will eventually be covered with bricks.
At the center, ground level, you can see the outline of the new door and canopy. This will probably become the most-used entrance to the building after the project is complete. A fully accessible walk-way will come from the parking lot out back up to this entrance. The floor of the addition is at the same level as the main floor of the building. The elevator will be to the right, through the new interior doors. The elevator will provide easy access to the second floor auditorium. In time, a new conference room and restrooms will be installed in the basement, all an elevator ride away.
This entire project is progressing with remarkable efficiency. All should be proud.
Congratulations you must be having fun
Yes. It is lots of fun.
Wonderful pictures, Ken !!! It is so well planned and will be gratefully used by many.
It warms my heart to see this preservation work continue. That building is Corinna’s “claim to fame” in my mind.
