Work on the Phase Two Project continues toward a planned completion date of June 1, 2016. Repairs to the building exterior will be completed this Spring. The stairway, glass walls and new entry doors in the new addition have been installed. The masons will be back soon to add brick to the outside and contractors are painting the interior. The three-stop elevator should be operational in May.
Work continues on the renovation of the new lobby areas in the former north stairway. Workers are hanging the pipes for the building-wide sprinkler system and the fire alarm system will be installed soon.
This project, that we call Phase Two, is focused on repairing the building, bringing it up to code, and making it more accessible. The future Phase Three project will focus on making the building more usable, more responsive to community needs, and further developing the role as a cultural center for the region. The Phase Three project will include developments in the basement such as new restrooms, secure storage areas, and a meeting room.
There are many people to thank for the progress on this project. The Building Preservation Group offers a special thanks to the Public Works Department of the Town of Corinna. Their cooperation and hard work on many aspects has made a difference both in cost and the quality of work.
What a terrific job on the addition ! Thanks for this most recent picture, Ken. Can’t wait to get to Corinna soon and see all this wonderful work up close.
